Privacy Policy
Dapple is built on one core promise: your photos are never stored. This policy explains exactly what we collect, what we don't, and how everything is handled.
Effective date: 29 June 2026
The short version
- Your selfies and photos are processed in memory only and immediately discarded — never saved, logged, or used to train any AI model.
- Dapple does not currently require an account or login to use.
- Your results, profile details, chat history, and preferences stay on your device.
- The only thing we hold on our servers is an anonymous device identifier and a message count, used solely to apply free-tier limits.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs of any kind.
- You can delete all your data in-app at any time.
What we collect
Photos (selfies, outfit photos, product photos). Each image you submit for analysis is processed in memory by our systems and discarded immediately afterward. It is never written to disk, never logged, and never used to train any AI model — ours or anyone else's.
Anonymous device identifier. Dapple does not currently require an account or login. Instead, your device is assigned a randomly generated identifier, stored securely in your device's Keychain. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, or any other real-world identity.
Usage count. To apply free-tier limits (such as the number of stylist messages available before a subscription is required), our servers store your anonymous identifier alongside a simple message count. Nothing else is stored alongside it.
Everything else stays on your device. Your colour analysis results, profile details (height, body shape, style preferences, sizes), chat history with the AI stylist, and app preferences are all stored locally on your device only. We do not have access to this information, and it is never transmitted to or stored on our servers.
How photos are handled, step by step
- You take or upload a photo for analysis.
- The photo is sent securely to our AI processing partner for analysis.
- The analysis result is returned to your device.
- The original photo is permanently discarded. It is not retained at any point in this process.
Third parties we work with
We work with a small number of trusted partners to make Dapple function. None of them receive any information that could identify you personally.
- Anthropic — processes photos and chat messages to generate your colour analysis and stylist responses. Images are not used to train any model.
- Supabase — hosts our backend infrastructure, based in the EU (Frankfurt).
- Apple and RevenueCat — process any purchases or subscriptions you make. Dapple never sees or stores your payment card details; this is handled entirely by Apple.
We do not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking software development kits (SDKs) in Dapple. As a result, Dapple does not request tracking permission under Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework, because no tracking takes place.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Delete your data at any time. Go to Settings → Delete My Data within the app to permanently remove the anonymous identifier and usage record associated with your device.
- Access, correct, or request deletion of any data we hold, under UK and EU data protection law (GDPR).
- Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you believe your data has been mishandled: ico.org.uk
